What Have I Learned? (COMM 315W)

This WIX page started in the fall semester of 2015 at ODU for COMM 302. When this class first started it stated that we had to create a WIX page or curate one, after reading that I found myself in a dilemma. See to me I felt like my ePortfolio was completed and didn’t need any curating. I received a decent grade last semester for it so I thought, “Why mess with it?” However, after looking around on my page trying to think of something to change I came to realize that I could change a lot and make it better.

I started off with the design. It had a basic design and I decided to add some color to it with a little bit of personality. Sometimes to professional is just that to professional. Some companies, but not all, like to see a little bit of personality of the individual they are considering to hire. I then changed the font. I had a lot of feedback from my WIX page and the biggest concern was the color and size of the font. I then made a quick summary of my resume. At first all I had was a word document link to my resume, but critics brought to my attention that some just want to get a quick glance of the individual and not wait for something to download. They made a good point so I fixed it.

In all I’ve enjoyed curating this WIX page. To me it was harder to curate than create. I’ve learn that there is always room to improve yourself and your projects. Getting feedback from others that have viewed your ePortfolio helps. What’s that saying, “Two heads are better than one?” Since I’m a communications major I’m pretty sure I’ll be curating in the future and hopefully I can keep making it better.
